Without all the extra powdered sugar, the frosting is too soft to work with. This is the main reason why most cream cheese frosting recipes recommend a huge amount of icing sugar. But since cream cheese contributes double the moisture, when the icing sugar draws out that moisture, you end up with a soupy, runny, unstable cream cheese frosting. Butter has very little moisture to draw out, so you can make a thick, pipeable frosting with butter and icing sugar without much worry. When the cream cheese is creamed with the butter, and then the icing sugar is added in, the icing sugar draws out that moisture from the butter and the cheese. What remains in both cases is mostly water, so cream cheese contains more moisture than butter. Remember that most grocery store butters have roughly 80 % fat in them, while cream cheese is half of that, around 40 % fat. Why is it so unstable?Ī block of cream cheese contains a lot more water than the same weight of butter. The reason cream cheese frosting recipes call for so much powdered sugar is because without the extra powdered sugar, cream cheese frosting tends to be runny, unstable, weepy, and soupy. The Polaroid Spectra is an instant film camera utilising type 1200 integral film released in 1986. Some special editions were released including a macro version. Minolta also released a Polaroid made version of the Pro, even before Polaroid themselves, called the Instant Pro. The top of the line was the Spectra Pro with a glass lens and an LCD for the available controls which was released in 1990. This Spectra was the first model in 1986, with many different models right through to 2004. By appealing to the more discerning photographer, with more controls, it was hoped this would bring sales back up. By the late 1980s and early 1990s one hour processing for 35mm film was already pushing the relevance of instant photography out of the mainstream market. Polaroid was already operating without Edwin Land in 1986 when this was released and the Spectra was an attempt to stop the company’s decline. ![]() The difference was purely in the dimensions of the photo, slightly wider and not as long. The film itself was identical in formulation to the 600 film, utilising the same chemicals, border and ISO. In Europe and elsewhere it was labelled as the Polaroid Image. If you are more inclined towards the square format, the Polaroid Sun 660 Autofocus has been reviewed here previously. While this is not a big increase in real estate, it does allow photos to breathe. Where this film differs is that rather than the traditional Polaroid image with a square size of 79 x 79mm (3.1 x 3.1in) it produces a wider image at 92 x 73mm (3.6 x 2.9in). Although it’s not named here, the text for Troilus and Cressida appears in the First Folio after Henry VIII and before Coriolanus. That’s because the publishers obtained the rights to Troilus and Cressida very late in the process-too late to include it on this page, which was already printed by then. You may notice there are only 35 plays listed, even though there are 36 plays in the First Folio. The Tempest leads off the comedies, even though Shakespeare wrote it late in his career, while Coriolanus heads the tragedies. They also made sure to place a “new” play (one that wasn’t already available in print in a quarto) at the start of both the comedies and the tragedies. Most of the history plays that were previously printed were already named for kings, but not all of them. They named the history plays according to the kings who reigned during the events in the plays and put the plays in the order of the kings’ reigns. Pagden’s decorative work inside this volume and Cobden- Sanderson’s on the cover attest to the privileged position of this book in the circle of William Morris and the history of typographic design. In this copy that binding was replaced by a magnificent gilt-tooled morocco binding by Morris’s disciple Thomas James Cobden-Sanderson, a founder of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Morris designed an elegant gilt-stamped green cloth binding for the original edition. Instead of the typographical ornaments they had rejected, it contains watercolor flowers and foliage supplied by Ellis’s niece Beatrice Pagden. It belonged to Ellis, who had it embellished with floral decorations and a special binding as a memento of his rewarding relationship with the author.
